I started JAB in 2004 for a couple of reasons. I had wanted to learn PHP for a while, for starters. "Wanted to" turned into "going to" one day when a large forum/odd news website (who shall remain nameless) pissed me off. More accurately, it was their insane Nazi moderators who pissed me off, the facist bastards.

So I set out to learn PHP by building my own forum website. After a few months of screwing around, JAB was finally launched in February of 2005. By then, it had morphed into a forum/blog site. It was hosted on an old Pentium 2 machine loaded with Fedora Core 3, Apache web server, and MySQL, and ran right out of my home office through my cable modem. This setup, while very cheap (read: practically free), was also very against my then-ISP's Terms of Use.

After only a couple months of website bliss, my ISP caught up with my shenanigans and blocked my server. Off to GoDaddy.com I went to secure cheap - but legal - hosting. They are very inexpensive, and the service was relatively solid for a few years.

Since then, I dropped the forums, and focused more on the blog side - which was all I really enjoyed about it anyway.

For 2006, I redesigned the look of the site to make it look a little less dungeon-y and mechanical. Besides, I was laid up at home with a broken leg and doped to the gills on painkillers - a perfect time to get "creative".

In late 2009, I was abducted by an alien spacecraft and, having been whisked off to another galaxy, was unable to get on the internet to update the site.

The aliens returned me to Earth in mid-2011, so I installed a newer content management system, moved to a new webhost, tweaked the site design a wee bit, and here we all are.

Peace out,
Scott
