AWOL
Wednesday, November 14th, 2007I have been so negligent about posting, but not without good reason. As I'm prone to do, I managed to get somewhere between too many and eleventy buhzillion irons in the fire. Aside from a full-time job and a full-time family life, individually and collectively rife with chaos and mayhem, I've got a few major side projects going, along with several minor projects and what not.
The first big one is a favor for an old friend - the design and implementation of a website for his photography. I posted some of Jamie's work here before - he's got much more than that, and it's all amazing. This one's been in the works for nearly a year, and has been going in fits and spurts, but I swear I'm going to finish it soon. Stay tuned for a link.
The next big project involves a website for the day care center my Lady Friend uses - Club Tosa. It's a fantastic place, with wonderful owners and a unique commitment for daycare providers - practically none. You essentially pay for what you use. Unfortunately for them, they're not very tech-savvy, and have gotten the shaft on both the creation and hosting of their website. In a fit of compassion, I committed myself to helping them out with straightening out their hosting and re-doing their site properly.
Hopefully, that endeavor will earn me enough good karma to offset my completely self-serving football project. I've been involved in an online football pool for nearly a decade. It's a lot of fun, but lately I've found myself becoming a bit frustrated by the site I use. The design and features are essentially the same as they were when I started there in the late 90's. So my last big project is to build a football pool website of my own. I've been picking away at that one (pun intended) for a few months, and plan to roll it out to friends for limited use before the end of this season, with a full rollout to all the world planned for the 2008 season.
So, I'm finally taking a break from all of them tonight to get caught up on other things, like letting everyone know that I'm still alive. Hi Mom!
